Antietam National Battlefield - , Sharpsburg, Antietam National Battlefield is a National Park Service protected area along Antietam Creek in Sharpsburg, Maryland which commemorates the American Civil War Battle of Antietam that occurred on September 17, 1862. The area, situated on fields among the Appalachian foothills near the Potomac River, features the battlefield site and visitor center, a national military cemetery and a field hospital museum. Today, over 330,000 people visit the park each year.

Bowman House (Boonsboro, Maryland) - , Boonsboro, The Bowman House is a log house in Boonsboro, Maryland, typical of those built in the area in the early 19th century. It and its immediate grounds housed the "Boonsboro Pottery" from 1868, owned by John E. Bowman. The pottery closed by 1908, succumbing to mass-produced materials. The building is now the headquarters of the Boonsboro Historical Society.

Gathland State Park - , Burkittsville, Gathland State Park is a small state park located near Burkittsville, Maryland in the US. The park is composed of the remains of the estate of George Alfred Townsend, a correspondent during the American Civil War who wrote under the pen name "Gath". Several buildings remain on the estate, including the War Correspondents Memorial Arch, and the Appalachian trail passes through the grounds.
