Best Family Vacation Spot on the U.S. East CoastMay 4, 2011 1 Comment
I was recently asked for my advice about ideas for a family vacation on the East Coast of the United States. Most of my friends and family are aware that I have visited countless wonderful vacation spots all over the world during my lifetime, so in recent years I’ve developed a stellar reputation as a travel connoisseur. Brainstorming for family vacation ideas almost always starts with a phone call to friends or family members known for their travel experiences. With my recent status as a family travel counselor of sorts, the pressure on me to give sound advice is high. Just for the record, my travel tips are free of charge and provided with love, but it comes with no warranty or refunds. :-) Years of experience have shown me that even the most family friendly destinations and the best hotels and locations are second in importance to a good and caring attitude and disposition.
Below is my pick for best family vacation on the Atlantic Coast. Hotel accommodations and amenities, location, dining options, nearby attractions and overall family friendly rating are some of the important elements used to select this destination.
Coral Beach Resort Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
Located on South Carolina’s Atlantic coast, Myrtle Beach is a popular US vacation destination and family hot spot. The Grand Stand strip draws large crowds all year round not just because of its hotels, activities and dining options, but because of its wonderful weather and centrally located beaches that stretch for many miles in both directions.
If you like to be in the thick of things, I recommend staying at the Coral Beach Resort in one of their ocean front condos or family suites. The rooms are spacious with breathtaking views of the ocean from their balconies. The resort itself is chalk full of family features and attractions including several outdoor pools for kids of all ages, an indoor pool, water slides and lazy rivers, a bowling alley in the resort, recreation facility with video arcade, pool tables, and other games, a children’s activity center with play structures, and of course the beach just steps away from the pool area.
If the hotel activities are not enough to satisfy your appetite, located just a few blocks north is the Family Kingdom amusement and water park. From roller coaster rides, go-kart races and bumper cars, to water slides, lazy rivers and kiddie pools, this conveniently located ocean front park is a thrill for families and their young ones.
Water park fanatics looking for even more water adventures can drive a short distance to Wild Water’s and Wheels in Surfside Beach south of the Coral Beach Resort (located at 910 Highway 17 South, Surfside Beach, SC 29575). This water and amusement park is designed especially for families and kids no matter what age. With 24 water slides, a lazy river ride, a large kiddie lagoon, miniature golf, go-carts and much more, it’s sure to be a wild and memorable experience for the whole family.
With beautiful sandy beaches made for sand castles, a large selection of ocean front hotels and condos each with their own built in attractions, water parks galore, a wide selection of dining options, and other activities like kayaking, golf and much more, you can’t go wrong choosing Myrtle Beach for your family vacation.
