Carnifex Ferry Battlefield State Park - Summersville, Carnifex Ferry Battlefield State Park is an American Civil War battle site that commemorates the Battle of Carnifex Ferry. It is that can be found on the rim of the Gauley River Canyon near Summersville, a town in Nicholas County, West Virginia. The 156-acre park features Patterson House Museum, three views of the Gauley River, hiking trails and picnic facilities. It is one of the oldest state parks in the US.

Cedar Creek State Park - Glenville, Cedar Creek State Park is sited on 2,588 acres in Gilmer County, located about 4 miles south of Glenville, West Virginia and about 25 miles west of Burnsville/Glenville exit of I-79. Two of the buildings at the park are historical restorations of West Virginia's pioneer days, including a log cabin now used as the campground check-in station, and the Pine Run One Room School, an old one-room schoolhouse complete with restored school desks and potbellied stove.

Jackson's Mill - Weston, Jackson's Mill was a grist mill in West Virginia. The center of the Jackson estate stood in the peninsula formed by the confluence of Freeman's Creek and the West Fork River. Edward Jackson built a home on a prominent knoll 100 yards from the West Fork, a two-story frontier-style log structure 40 feet by 20. On the other side of the river, he built a sawmill and grist mill in 1808.

West Virginia State Wildlife Center - French Creek, The 'West Virginia State Wildlife Center is a zoological park in French Creek, West Virginia. Operated by the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources, the Wildlife Center displays many of West Virginia's wildlife, including both native and introduced species.
