Maine Discovery Museum - Bangor, The Maine Discovery Museum, located in Bangor, Maine, is the largest children's museum located north of Boston, Massachusetts. It opened in 2001 in a converted department store following several years of planning and fundraising. Despite attendance that has exceeded expectations since its first year of operation, the museum has struggled each year to meet its operating costs. The museum was able to receive assistance from the state in the form of a grant, despite a Bangor city panel choosing not to further fund the museum.

Old Post Office (Liberty, Maine) - Liberty, The Old Post Office, which is also referred to as the Old Octagonal Post Office, was built in 1870 and is an historic octagon-shaped former U.S. post office building located on Main Street in Liberty, Maine. On June 19, 1973, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. The town of Liberty boasts that the building is "the only octagonal post office in the US". The building, which "has all its original equipment" is now the home of the Liberty Historical Society, which opens it to the public on Saturdays during the summer.
