The prison is the largest maximum security prison in the US with 5,000 inmates and 1,800 staff members. It is located on an 18,000 acre property that was previously the Angola and other plantations owned by Isaac Franklin in West Feliciana Parish, close to the Mississippi border.

Magnolia Mound Plantation House - Baton Rouge, The Magnolia Mound Plantation House is a French Creole house constructed in 1791 near the Mississippi River in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Many period documents refer to the plantation as Mount Magnolia. The house and several original outbuildings on the grounds of Magnolia Mound Plantation are examples of the vernacular architectural influences of early settlers from France and the West Indies. Pete Maravich Assembly Center - Louisiana State University - Baton Rouge, Pete Maravich Assembly Center is a 13,472-seat multi-purpose arena in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The arena opened in 1972. It is home to the Louisiana State University Tigers and Lady Tigers basketball teams. It was originally known as the LSU Assembly Center, but was renamed in memory of Pete Maravich, a Tiger basketball legend, shortly after his death in 1988. Maravich never played in the arena, but it was his exploits which led LSU to build a larger home for the basketball team, which languished for decades in the shadow of the school's football program.

Port Hudson State Historic Site - , Port Hudson, The Port Hudson State Historic Site is that can be found on the Mississippi River north of Baton Rouge near Port Hudson, Louisiana. The site is the location of the longest siege in American history during the American Civil War from May 23 through July 9, 1863.
