The prison is the largest maximum security prison in the US with 5,000 inmates and 1,800 staff members. It is located on an 18,000 acre property that was previously the Angola and other plantations owned by Isaac Franklin in West Feliciana Parish, close to the Mississippi border.

Oakwing Golf Club - Alexandria, The Oakwing Golf Club is an 18 hole public golf course in Rapides County Louisiana. Built in 2002, this Alexandria course designed by Jim Lipe is open all year. For tee time information call the pro shop at 318-561-0260. The golf course dress code is as follows: No denim, collared shirt and bermuda shorts required.

Rapides Parish Coliseum - Alexandria, The Rapides Parish Coliseum can seat about 6,500 people in the 65,000-square-foot building. Additional space is in the smaller Exhibition Hall, also on the property. Built in 1965, the dome-topped Coliseum has hosted thousands of events, including music concerts, "monster" truck shows, professional wrestling, trade shows and sporting events.

Tamahka Trails - Marksville, The Tamahka Trails is an 18 hole resort golf course in Avoyelles County Louisiana. Built in 2000, this Marksville course designed by Steve Smyers is open all year. Tee times are accepted by calling the pro shop at 800-946-1946. The golf course dress code is as follows: No denim, collared shirt required.
