Fort Hays - Hays, Fort Hays was an important frontier outpost of the United States Army located in Hays, Kansas between 1865 and 1889. Fort Hays was the home of several well-known Indian wars regiments including the Seventh U.S. Cavalry, the Fifth U.S. Infantry, and the Tenth U.S. Cavalry, whose black troopers were better known as buffalo soldiers. The fort was originally located about five miles south of present day Walker, Kansas.

Fort Hays Municipal Golf Course - Hays, The Fort Hays Municipal Golf Course is an 18 hole public golf course in Ellis County Kansas. Built in 1920, this Hays course designed by Dewey Longworth is open all year. Tee times are accepted up to 7 days in advance and the pro shop phone number for reservations is 785-625-9949. Fort Larned National Historic Site - Larned, Fort Larned National Historic Site, located six miles west of Larned, Kansas, preserves Fort Larned, which operated from 1859 to 1878. Fort Larned was established to protect traffic along the Santa Fe Trail from hostile American Indians, and as an agency for the administration of the Central Plains Indians by the Bureau of Indian Affairs under the terms of the Fort Wise Treaty of 1861. The fort's service ended as a combination of the tribes' relocation to reservations and the completion of railroads across Kansas that ended the need for the Santa Fe Trail.

Gross Memorial Coliseum - Fort Hays State University - Hays, The Gross Memorial Coliseum is a 6,814 seat multi-purpose arena in Hays, Kansas. It was built in 1973. It is the home of the Fort Hays State University Tigers women's volleyball team, as well as the men's and women's basketball teams. It also hosts state championship events for Classes 1A, 2A, and 3A wrestling, 1A and 2A volleyball, and 1A boys' and girls' basketball for the Kansas State High School Activities Association.
