Donner Ski Ranch - Norden, Donner Ski Ranch is a budget-oriented, family owned ski area located on Donner Summit in the Tahoe National Forest of Nevada County, California. It is owned by Janet and Marshall Tuttle, who purchased it after it went into bankruptcy. The area it is on has been used for skiing since 1937. It has ski lifts on both sides of Donner Summit, and is located close to Boreal. 25% of its terrain is beginner, 50% intermediate, and 25% advanced, but of the 52 runs 16 are of beginning difficulty, 20 are intermediate, and 16 are advanced.

Eddy Arboretum - Placerville, The Eddy Arboretum at the Institute of Forest Genetics in Placerville, California in the US contains what is claimed to be the best-documented collection of pines in the world, in addition to many other native and exotic conifers. It is part of the Pacific Southwest Research Station of the United States Forest Service, and open to the public during business hours, excluding weekends and holidays.

Empire Mine State Historic Park - Grass Valley, Empire Mine State Historic Park is a state-protected mine and park in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in Grass Valley, California. Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary - Folsom, The Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary is a zoo and animal sanctuary located in the city of Folsom, California in the US, which has been open since 1963. It is essentially an animal sanctuary which allows visitors, as the animals in this zoo are not bred, sold or traded. Once they are at the zoo/sanctuary they are cared for as long as they live.

Folsom Powerhouse State Historic Park - Folsom, Folsom Powerhouse State Historic Park is a historical site located in Folsom near Sacramento, California, in the US. Built in the late 19th century by the Natoma Water and Mining Company and prison labor from Folsom Prison, the hydroelelectric powerhouse first delivered power to Sacramento in 1895. The powerplant remained in operation until 1952. Pacific Gas and Electric donated the plant to the State of California, which designated the site as State Historic Site Number #633.

Opened in 1880, Folsom is the second-oldest prison in the state of California after San Quentin and was the first in the country to have electricity. Folsom was one of the first maximum security prisons, and as such witnessed the execution of 93 condemned prisoners over a 42-year period.

Fountain & Tallman Museum - Placerville, The Fountain-Tallman Soda Works is a historic building in Placerville, El Dorado County, California. It currently houses the Fountain & Tallman Museum, which is owned and operated by the El Dorado County Historical Society. The rustic vernacular Victorian brick building, in the Gold Country, was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on September 13, 1984.
