Minnesota, Land of 10,000 Lakes! This name is no exaggeration since there are actually over 11,800 lakes, to be exact. These waters along with wide open areas, parks and woods have a lot to offer visitors in outdoors leisure activities. Minneapolis-Saint Paul, known as the twin cities comprises the largest residential population as it is also the center for business and industry as well as a wide-reaching arts community. Some of the places to visit are: Voyageurs National Park, exceptional in that you can only access it by boat. Superior National Forest, with its campgrounds, secluded back country and lots of lakes and streams for fishing; and Chippewa National Forest with its rich wildlife, forests and lakes. Arts and culture abound in Minnesota within its twin cities as they contain the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Walker Art Center and the Guthrie Theater, to name just a few.

3M Museum - Two Harbors
The John Dwan Office Building, located at 201 Waterfront Drive in Two Harbors, in the U.S. state of Minnesota was the location where Dwan, a Two Harbors attorney drew up the incorporation papers for the Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company in 1902. The new company’s vision was to mine and process corundum that the founders believed was plentiful on Lake Superior's north shore. The company nearly went bankrupt, because the mineral they were mining was useless as an abrasive and the high humidity at Lake Superior wreaked havoc with their adhesive process.

Afton Alps - Afton
Afton Alps is a ski resort, which hosts a collection of ski and snowboard trails, located along the St. Croix River in the city of Afton, Minnesota in the US. There are nearly 300 acres skiiable at Afton Alps. The Alps often utilize artificial snow for maintaining the slopes. A total of 48 trails and 18 chairlifts are used throughout the ski resort. There are a total of 5 Chalets, including the Meadows Chalet, the Highlands Chalet, the Alpine Chalet, and the Alps Chalet.

Aitkin County Historical Society Depot Museum - Aitkin
The Northern Pacific Depot in Aitkin, Minnesota is a brick passenger depot built on the Northern Pacific Railway mainline in 1916. The rail line is now part of the BNSF Railway. The depot symbolizes the importance of the railroad in Aitkin's growth and development.

The Albany Golf Club is an 18 hole public golf course in Stearns County Minnesota. Built in 1960, this Albany course designed by Willie Kidd is open apr 1 to nov 1. Albion Ridges Golf Course (Granite/Boulder Course at Albion Ridges Golf Course) - Annandale
The Albion Ridges Golf Course is a 27 hole public golf course in Wright County Minnesota. Built in 2000, this Annandale course designed by Todd Severud is open apr 1 to nov 1. Alexander Faribault House - Faribault
The Alexander Faribault House, built in 1853, was the first wood-frame house built in Rice County, Minnesota. It was built by fur trader Alexander Faribault in the Greek Revival style. Besides serving as a house, it also served as a civic center, polling place, and a church. The local address of the house is 12 First Avenue, Faribault, MN. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970.

American Swedish Institute - Minneapolis
The American Swedish Institute is a non-profit educational and research organization and museum in the Phillips West neighborhood of Minneapolis, Minnesota. The organization is dedicated to the preservation and study of the historic role Sweden and Americans of Swedish heritage have played in US culture and history. Its programs include the Svea Club, Swedish language-teaching society and the Turnblad Mansion Museum which features exhibits and special events.

Ames-Florida-Stork House - Rockford
The Ames-Florida House is a house in Rockford, Minnesota on the Crow River. The house was built in 1856 by New England immigrants George F. Ames and his brother-in-law Joel Florida. Ames and Florida came to Minnesota from northern Illinois by steamship. On the steamship, they met Guilford George, a master carpenter and millwright. The three men formed a partnership and established the community of Rockford clustered around a sawmill and a gristmill.

Andrew John Volstead House - Granite Falls
The Andrew John Volstead House, located at 163 Ninth Avenue, Granite Falls, in the U.S. state of Minnesota was the home of Andrew Volstead. He personified prohibition to the American people, having authored the National Prohibition Act of 1919. The home is a wood-frame structure with a large two-story stairwell tower that was added on by Volstead shortly after he purchased the property. During Volstead's time, the first floor had a large screened porch; this has now been replaced by an open porch.
