Pearl S. Buck Birthplace - , Hillsboro, The Pearl S. Buck Birthplace is a historic home in Hillsboro, West Virginia where American writer Pearl S. Buck was born. The home now serves as a museum offering guided tours. The site also includes a carpentry shop and barn with over 100 historic farm and woodworking tools, and the log home of Buck's father's family, the Sydenstrickers, which was moved from Greenbrier County.

Snowshoe Mountain - , Snowshoe, Snowshoe Mountain is a ski resort that is situated in Snowshoe, West Virginia, in the Allegheny Mountains. The resort is located in the bowl shaped convergence of two mountains, Cheat and Back Allegheny, at the head of the Shavers Fork of the Cheat River. Snowshoe is home to the second highest point in the state and the peak elevation for Cheat Mountain, at Thorny Flat, which reaches 4848 feet above sea level.

We left New Jersey where all three of our sons were born and raised heading West. Our road trip was through Newark Delaware, West Virginia, Natural Bridge, Baltimore - our goal was to reach Roanoke.
