Grave Creek Mound - , Moundsville, At 62 feet high and 240 feet in diameter, the Grave Creek Mound is one of the largest conical type burial mounds in the US. The builders of the site moved more than 60,000 tons of dirt to create it. It is located in Moundsville, West Virginia. In 1838, much of the archaeological evidence in this mound was destroyed when several non-archaeologists tunneled into the mound. To gain entrance to the mound, two shafts, one vertical and one horizontal were created.

Meadowcroft Rockshelter and Museum of Rural Life - , Avella, Meadowcroft Rockshelter is an archaeological site located near Avella in Washington County, in southwestern Pennsylvania. The site, a rock shelter in a bluff overlooking Cross Creek, is located about 36 miles west-southwest of Pittsburgh. The site, including the a museum and 18th-century village, is operated by the Heinz History Center. The artifacts from the site show the area has been continually inhabited for 16,000 years.
