The museum is located at 125 Washington Avenue in downtown Albany, . Founded in 1791, it is among the oldest museums in the US.

Arrowhead (Herman Melville) - , Pittsfield, Arrowhead, which is also referred to as Herman Melville House, was the home of American author Herman Melville during his most productive years from 1850-1863. The resort features a vertical drop of 750 feet, a lift-top elevation of 1,818 feet, twenty-four trails, five lifts, one terrain park, and 75% snowmaking capacity.

It is the oldest structure in upstate New York, and was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1967.
