Apple River Fort - , Elizabeth, Apple River Fort, today known as Apple River Fort State Historic Site, was one of many frontier forts hastily completed by settlers in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin following the onset of the 1832 Black Hawk War. Located in present-day Elizabeth, Illinois, the fort at the Apple River settlement was built in less than a week. It was one of the few forts attacked during the war and the only one attacked by a band led by Black Hawk himself.

Diamond Jo Casino - Dubuque, The Diamond Jo Casino is a gambling casino and entertainment complex located in the Port of Dubuque, in Dubuque, Iowa. The casino is owned and operated by Dubuque-based Peninsula Gaming, LLC, which also operates the Diamond Jo Casino in Northwood, Iowa, and gambling operations in Eunice, Henderson, New Iberia, Opelousas, and Port Allen, Louisiana. It is a member of the Iowa Gaming Association, and its license is held by the Dubuque Racing Association, which operates the Dubuque Greyhound Park & Casino.

Dubuque Arboretum and Botanical Gardens - Dubuque, The Dubuque Arboretum and Botanical Gardens 52 acres are an arboretum and botanical gardens established in 1980 and located at 3800 Arboretum Drive, Dubuque, Iowa. It is open without charge seven days a week from May 1 to October 31, and weekdays the remainder of the year. The arboretum is the largest in the US staffed entirely by volunteers, and over 375 people help maintain the gardens. The Arboretum is a popular spot in the community for outdoor weddings.

The National Park Service describes it: "Completed in 1858, this massive stone building was designed by the Midwestern architect who also did such masterpieces as the Old Illinois State Capitol. The casino is owned by the City of Dubuque, and operated by the non-profit Dubuque Racing Association, its license holder. It is a member of the Iowa Gaming Association, and shares a gaming license with the Diamond Jo Casino, also in Dubuque, . Beginning operations on June 1, 1985, the DGPC became a full-service casino following the introduction of table games in 2005.
