Pacific Tsunami Museum - Hilo, Pacific Tsunami Museum is a museum in Hilo, Hawaii dedicated to the history of the April 1, 1946 Pacific Tsunami and the May 23, 1960 Chilean Tsunami which devastated much of the east coast of the Big Island, especially Hilo, . The museum also has a mission to educate people in general about tsunamis, including the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami. It is located at 130 Kamehameha Avenue, Hilo, . A scientific advisor to the museum has written a book on the two major disasters.

Pana'ewa Rainforest Zoo - Hilo, Panaewa Rainforest Zoo is located in Hilo on the Big Island of Hawaii. This small zoo is the only one in the US located in a rainforest. It is operated by Hawaii County and receives 100% of its funding from the county and from private donations.

S. Hata Building - Hilo, Sadanosuke Hata was a Japanese businessman who built a historic structure called the S. Hata Building in Hilo, Hawaii, in 1912. It now contains specialty shops, professional offices, a restaurant, and the Mokupapapa Discovery Center, a visitors center for the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands. Sadanosuke's younger brother Yoichi Hata was another notable Japanese businessman who founded a major wholesale food distribution company in Hawaii.

Our room at the Hapuna Beach Prince was luxurious and Beach view from our patio was spectacular. It was a very reasonable rate for such an up-scale Hawaiian resort.
