Colonel Allensworth State Historic Park - , Allensworth, Colonel Allensworth State Historic Park is the only California town to be founded, financed and governed by African Americans. The small farming community was founded in 1908 by Lt. Colonel Allen Allensworth, Professor William Payne, William Peck, a minister, John W. Palmer, a miner, and Harry A. Mitchell, a real estate agent, dedicated to improving the economic and social status of African Americans. Fresno Metropolitan Museum of Art and Science - Fresno, The Fresno Metropolitan Museum of Art and Science was a Smithsonian Institution Affiliate and American Association of Museums accredited museum that is situated in downtown Fresno, California, in the San Joaquin Valley. Hanford Carnegie Museum - Hanford, The Hanford Carnegie Library, now the Hanford Carnegie Museum, was built in 1905 as one of the many Carnegie libraries that were funded by the steel industry magnate, Andrew Carnegie. The library was replaced by a new structure at a different location in 1968. The old library was subsequently renovated and re-opened as the Hanford Carnegie Museum in 1974. The building is of Romanesque Revival architecture with displays of furniture and photos describing the history of the Hanford area .
