Tennessee is located in the southeastern United States. The Appalachian Mountains cover a large part of Eastern Tennessee, with the Mississippi River forming the state’s western border. Nashville is the capital city and Memphis is the largest city in the state. Tennessee has played a major part in the expansion of rock-n-roll music as well as the early blues music. Memphis is regarded as the place where the blues originated. It is also home to such famous musicians as Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley and Roy Orbison to name a few. One of the most visited national parks is the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. In it one can observe many bird species, mammals, fish, reptiles and amphibians, with large varieties of trees and plants, both of the flowering and non-flowering kind. One of the most popular attractions is Cades Cove park. It contains well conserved homesteads and is considered a historic place. At the park there are plenty of activities to enjoy, among them are bicycling, fishing and horseback riding.
