Originally founded as a safe haven to provide religious tolerance for England's Roman Catholic minority in the 1700s, Maryland is known as "America in Miniature" due the variety in its topography, from forests and mountains, to sandy dunes and marshlands. In central Maryland, Baltimore City - the city on the bay - is home to Inner Harbor and rich with history and attractions. Fort McHenry National Monument & Historic Shrine is a historical treasure. Frederick is the capitol of Maryland and also replete in American history. On the western side of this state, Deep Creek Lake is Maryland's largest freshwater lake, offering plenty of water sports, fishing, and miles of lovely shoreline to captivate any outdoor enthusiast. Ocean City, on the eastern shore, packs year-round family fun. On Maryland's southern tip in the Chesapeake lies Solomons Island - a charming waterfront village with dining, shops, fishing and other activities.

Baltimore Public Works Museum - Baltimore
The now-closed Baltimore Public Works Museum was located at 751 Eastern Avenue, Pier 7 of the Inner Harbor, Baltimore, Maryland. This museum provided a behind-the-scenes glimpse of how a large city provides utility services to its citizens. The building housing this display is an operating pumping station built in 1912. Exhibits also explained street lighting, road maintenance, and trash removal. An outdoor sculpture called Streetscape was an intricate model of a network of phone lines, street lights, storm drains and pipes for water, gas, and sewage disposal.

Baltimore Streetcar Museum - Baltimore
The Baltimore Streetcar Museum is a non-profit museum located at 1901 Falls Road in Baltimore, Maryland. The museum is dedicated to preserving Baltimore's public transportation history, especially the streetcar era. The museum is open noon to 5 p.m. Sundays throughout the year and noon to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, June through October.

Beall-Dawson House - Rockville
The The Beall-Dawson House is a historic home located at Rockville, Montgomery County, Maryland. It is a two and one-half story Federal house, three bays wide by two deep, constructed of Flemish bond brick on the front facade and common bond elsewhere. Outbuildings on the property include an original brick dairy house and a mid-19th century one-room Gothic Revival frame doctor's office which was moved to the site for use as a museum.

Belair Mansion - Bowie

The Benson-Hammond House is a historic home at Linthicum Heights, Anne Arundel County, Maryland. It is a two and one-half story, six bay by two bay, 19th century brick dwelling, constructed in the Greek Revival style. The building is now home to the Ann Arrundell County Historical Society.
