Hawaii is the 50th state to join the United States and it is the only state made up of islands. It is located in the central Pacific Ocean and is composed of eight major islands and many smaller islets. Hawaii is a very popular destination due to its tropical warm temperature, beautiful turquoise-bleu ocean, lush green vegetation and exotic flowers. It is truly a tropical paradise. Oahu, the capital of Hawaii and its most populated island has beautiful white sand beaches; the best known and most popular is Waikiki Beach with Diamond Head as its back drop. Hawaii abounds with gorgeous beaches, lush rainforests, waterfalls and botanical gardens. Among these places of interest are: Kauapea Beach, also known as Secret Beach because of its privacy and loveliness; Kilauea lighthouse found in Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge, Kauai. Hawaii is also known for its many breathtaking waterfalls, including Manoa Falls in O'ahu at the bottom of which is a small pool for wading. On the Big Island one can find the most powerful and tallest waterfalls in Hawaii, the Hiilawe Waterfalls. Back in ancient times on the island of Kauai, the Wailua Falls is where men would jump to demonstrate their manliness. There is an exceptional sanctuary and nature preserve on the Big Island known as the Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden. It contains waterfalls, streams and thousands of species of plants, flowers and trees, and a boardwalk along the ocean.

Green Sands Beach - Green Sands Beach
Papakolea Beach is a green sand beach located near South Point, in the Kau district of the island of Hawaii. One of only two green sand beaches in the US, the other being in Guam, the beach gets distinctive coloring from olivine crystals found in the enclosing cinder cone.

The Greenwell Store is a historic building now run as a museum by the Kona Historical Society.

Grove Farm Golf Course - Lihue
The Grove Farm Golf Course is a 10 hole public golf course in Hawaii. Built in 1996, this Lihue course designed by Robin Nelson & Rodney Wright is open all year. For tee time information call the pro shop at 808-245-8756. The golf course dress code is as follows: Collared shirt, no cutoffs, denim OK.

Hale Pa'i - Lahaina
Lahainaluna High School is a grade 9-12 school located in Lahaina, Hawaii. It is the oldest post-secondary school west of the Rocky Mountains. It was founded in 1831 as a Protestant missionary school, originally named Lahainaluna Seminary. The early missionaries who arrived in Lahaina in 1823 explained to the Hawaiian Royalty the importance of an educational institution. A number of the pioneers are buried in a small grave yard.

Haleakala National Park -
Haleakala National Park is a United States national park that can be found on the island of Maui in the state of Hawaii. The park covers an area of 30,183 acres, of which 24,719 acres is a wilderness area. In 2000 the name was changed by the Hawaiian National Park Language Correction Act of 2000 observing the Hawaiian spelling.

Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve - Hanauma Bay
Hanauma is a marine embayment formed within a volcanic cone and located along the southeast coast of the Island of Oahu in the Hawaiian Islands. Hana means 'bay' and uma means 'curve,' rendering "Curved Bay." Though some call it "Hanauma Bay," this is a tautology: Hawaiians simply call this feature "Hanauma". Hanauma is one of the most popular tourist destinations on the Island and has suffered somewhat from overuse.

Hapuna Beach State Recreation Area is a large park and sandy beach on the Big Island of Hawaii. The Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel is also located adjacent to the beach. Hapuna is popular with residents and visitors.

The Hapuna Golf Course, Mauna Kea Resort is an 18 hole resort golf course in Hawaii. Built in 1992, this Kamuela course designed by Arnold Palmer & Ed Seay is open all year. For tee time information call the pro shop at 808-880-3000. The golf course dress code is as follows: No denim, collared shirt and bermuda shorts required.

Hawaii Maritime Center - Honolulu
The Hawaii Maritime Center was the principal maritime museum in the State of Hawaii from 1988 until it closed in 2009. Located at Pier 7 of Honolulu Harbor east of Aloha Tower, the center was a campus of the Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum. The Hawaii Maritime Center was built on what once was the private boathouse of King David Kalakaua and was home to the only four-masted, full-rigged ship in the world called the Falls of Clyde.

Hawaii State Art Museum - Honolulu
The No. 1 Capitol District Building, on the site of the former Armed Services YMCA Building, now houses the Hawaii State Art Museum and the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts.
