In need of a weekend away, I booked a night at Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Bilox for me and my fiancée. We were definitely NOT disappointed.

I hoped the suite would be nice with all of the standard features a room should have, and it was.  Once checked in (hours early – thank you Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Bilox) we found that the layout of the room was absolutely wonderful. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The parking was convenient and simple. The getaway was a success in large part to the fact that this hotel had a very comfortable feel. My search for the perfect fit was found – this will be our place of choice from here on out.

We look forward to staying here again.

The Grand Canyon

One of the most popular places to visit is the Grand Canyon, in northern Arizona. Nearly five million people come to visit the one-mile deep and incredibly scenic canyon each year. Visitors to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, at 7,000 feet above sea level, can see a lot of it from their vehicle at overlooks located along the South Rim; this is also the most accessible part of the park. A smaller group of visitors will experience the Canyon on the North Rim side; it’s about 1,000 feet higher in elevation and is less accessible. Sedona’s Red Rocks

The red rocks of Sedona, Arizona are a breathtaking part of the state. The town also boasts cooler temperatures in the summertime. The area truly offers something for everyone — from people who love geology and are fascinated by the stunning red rock formations and those who appreciate the area’s numerous art galleries. There is plenty to do for people who like outdoor sports and the spiritual qualities that are inherent to the area. The area is home to some of the most amazing scenery in the world. Red-rock monoliths featuring whimsical and accurate names like Coffeepot, Cathedral and Bell Rock inspire photographers and painters alike. If travelers have the time and opportunity, nearby Jerome is another interesting area that is full of history and interesting scenery.

Flagstaff

Flagstaff Arizona, north of Sedona and at a higher elevation, offers visitors a cool respite from the heat. For people who enjoy camping, the area offers a variety of places to pitch a tent and kick back and commune with Mother Nature. From families who like to camp at a facility that offers at least some of the comforts of home to those more rugged types who don’t mind sleeping under the stars and starting their campfires with a couple of pieces of flint, Flagstaff has plenty to offer. As ArizonaGuide.com noted, Flagstaff is also rich with history, cultural diversity and plenty of recreational activities. Located about 80 miles from the Grand Canyon, Flagstaff is also close to an impressive seven national parks.

There is so much more but here are a few great local places to eat and have fun! The park here is Beautiful. My daughter loves playing on the playgrown, swimming in the City Pools (They have 3 sized pools for all ages) and we love feeding the ducks, or ice skating during the winter. Yoctangee Park, we also love the festivals in spring and fall. There are many historcal places and so more much to do here!

My husband and I were driving thru the area on our way back home, and we typically stay with super 8 because we like the hotel chain and have always had a good experience, Until walked into Super 8 in Butler, Pa.  The desk clerk was a sort woman with glasses whom was the rudest person I have ever met in my life. I asked her basic questions such as, What is your room rate? When is check out? Do you have a continental breakfast? And do you have non-smoking rooms? You would have thought I asked this woman to perform a circus stunt. She told me she didn’t have time to answer my ridiculous questions that she had other things to do. I thought my questions were typical due to the fact that they determined what type of room we wanted except for the breakfast part. But I guess sitting in a chair and talking to the gentleman I’m assuming her husband that was standing to her right hand side (my Left) behind the counter in the doorway of a small room behind the counter was more important then attending to her customer. And when I was asking questions the tall skinny gentleman started to answer my questions for me before she even did. So unfortunately we will 100% not be booking a hotel stay with this establishment due to the desk clerk being so rude and ignorant.

Unfortunately, some aspects of airport travel — like surprise pat downs and flight delays — are completely out of your hands. However, if you make a few changes in areas you can control, you’ll be able to get your family through the airport with these five tips.

Double-Check Your Reservations a Few Days in Advance

Something as simple as putting the wrong flight time in your planner could result in a missed flight or a few extra hours at the airport. In addition to making sure you have the correct flight time, Melanie Pinola at Lifehacker suggests confirming any reservations with your hotel and car rental service. It’s rare, but sometimes reservations can be lost or services can be overbooked. In either case, you’ll want to be prepared.

Don’t Let Them Log On

No matter how badly your teens and tweens want to send an email or check Facebook, enforce a no-Internet rule for the whole family. Staying offline while you make your way through the airport will keep everyone alert and undistracted. Taking this small step will also keep your family safe from stolen information and identities, as airport Wi-Fi connections are notoriously insecure. Many have taken the step in approaching companies like Lifelock to ensure they get notified of any discrepancies. This could prove as a great investment if you anticipate having to log on to unfamiliar networks later on in your trip. Travel and identity theft go hand in hand and receiving immediate notification of compromised security could really come in handy when preventing a trip from going sour.

Eliminate Extra Tasks

Avoid standing in line for food or weaving through the aisles of crowded gift shops by packing all your airport entertainment and snacks before you leave home. Granola bars and trail mix make great travel food because they’re healthy, filling and portable. By the same token, choosing books and magazines well before you get to the overpriced airport stores will save you money, time and the stress of having to make last-minute decisions. To eliminate one more step, print all of your boarding passes at home.

Carry On All of Your Family Valuables

Caroline Morse of Smartertravel warns that if an item in your checked luggage is damaged or goes missing, airlines won’t offer any reimbursement. Pack any valuables in your carry-on luggage and don’t just consider your high-priced items. If your daughter loses her diary or your son’s favorite stuffed animal disappears, it could put a damper on the whole trip. Keep all your valuables — whether expensive or sentimental — with you at all times.

Give the Kids Their Own Tasks

Let yourself have a break by giving your younger child the responsibility of regularly counting everyone’s bags to make sure nothing has been left behind. Assign an older child the task of finding your gate on the map and locating a bathroom stop on the way. Allowing your kids to take responsibility for simpler tasks will not only give them a sense of control, but it will keep them occupied and leave you with fewer things to worry about.

Going through the airport with your family can quickly turn into a train wreck — but only if you’re unprepared. If you make a few arrangements at home, take steps to safeguard your valuables and keep your kids engaged, you’ll find that your airport experience will be much less stressful for the entire family.
