Cyrus McCormick Farm - Steeles Tavern, The Cyrus McCormick Farm and Workshop is on the family farm of inventor Cyrus Hall McCormick known as Walnut Grove. Cyrus Hall McCormick improved and patented the mechanical reaper, which eventually led to the creation of the combine harvester. Lee Chapel - Lexington, Lee Chapel is a National Historic Landmark in Lexington, Virginia, on the campus of Washington and Lee University. It was constructed during 1867-68 at the request of Robert E. Lee, who was President of the University at the time, and after whom the building is named. We left New Jersey where all three of our sons were born and raised heading West. Our road trip was through Newark Delaware, West Virginia, Natural Bridge, Baltimore - our goal was to reach Roanoke.
