The Great State of Texas
Texas is the largest state in the continental United States. Its three largest cities are Houston, San Antonio and Dallas.
In Houston you can visit the NASA’s Space Center and its many interactive exhibits, the Galleria which is the largest shopping center in Texas. Parks abound in Houston among which are Herman Park and Terry Hershey Park.
A famous spot to visit is The Alamo in San Antonio, Texas. Learn about the famous and fierce battle which took place there and was a key event in the Texas revolution.
In West Texas you will find the Guadalupe Mountains with its famous crest, Guadalupe Peak which hikers can climb and proceed from there to El Capitan Peak (not to be confused with El Capitan in Yosemite National Park) and which has been used as a landmark.
The central region of Texas is known as the "Hill Country". It is made of tall rugged hills which are made of granite and limestone. Among its most famous is "Enchanted Rock", a gigantic granite rock pink in color.
Last, but not least is "Palo Duro Canyon". The second largest canyon after the Grand Canyon is to be found in the Texas panhandle. It was said about it that "It is a burning, seething cauldron, filled with dramatic light and color."

1 1940 Air Terminal Museum
- HoustonThe 1940 Air Terminal Museum is a museum that is situated in Houston, Texas at William P. Hobby Airport. Collections are housed in the original art deco building which served as the first terminal for passenger flight in Houston. The museum currently exhibits several collections focusing on Houston's commercial aviation history and is operated by the Houston Aeronautical Heritage Society, a recognized Texas 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization.

2 20th Century Technology Museum
- WhartonThe 20th Century Technology Museum is a museum that is situated in Wharton, Texas, and displays examples of technology from the 20th century. The museum is a non-profit organization and opened its gallery in July 2005 on the first floor of the former Wharton County Jail, which was constructed in 1888.
3 85 Speedway
- Ennis85 Speedway is a 1/4 mile, semi-banked, clay oval dirt track located just east of Ennis, Texas that hosts Saturday night races for classes such as Twister, Cruiser, Bomber, IMCA Southern Sport Modified, and IMCA Modifieds, with special events held throughout the season with guest race classes, candy giveaways, bicycle giveaways, wheelbarrow races, tricycle races, an Independence Day fireworks show, and more.

5 Abilene Zoological Gardens

6 Admiral Nimitz Museum

Fleet Admiral Nimitz served as CinCPAC, Commander in Chief Pacific Fleet during World War II. The six acre site includes the Admiral Nimitz Museum which is housed in the old Nimitz Hotel and tells the story of Fleet Admiral Nimitz beginning with his life as a young boy through his naval career as well as the evolution of the old hotel in Fredericksburg, Texas.
