AHH! California! Known as the "Golden State" because of its sunshine but especially because of the gold which was found here and which started the "gold rush" back in 1848. It is the State which is to the western most part of the continental USA right next to the Pacific Ocean. It is known for its beautiful coastline, white sand beaches, its famous wine country, and its Sierra Nevada mountain ranges among just a few of the things which make this one of the most beautiful and diverse State. It is also home to the giant sequoia trees, which are the largest living trees on earth.

Among its many cities the most famous and most widely populated are San Francisco to the North, known for its Golden Gate Bridge, its cable cars, and its famous Chinatown, Los Angeles (its original name being Nuestra Senora Reina de Los Angeles), is home to Hollywood and is leader in the entertainment world of television, movies and music. Los Angeles and San Diego to the South, both enjoy a beautiful Mediterranean weather.

The house was built in 1930 for Rhoda Rindge Adamson and Merritt Huntley Adamson, based on a Mediterranean Revival design by Stiles O. Clements of the architectural firm of Morgan, Walls & Clements.
