Maine is located in the northeast part of the United States and borders the Atlantic Ocean. It has beautiful coastline scenery which is jagged and rocky. There are low gently sloping mountains and densely wooded interior. It is also famous for its seafood: lobsters and clams.

Outdoor activities abound in Maine. In the winter it is great to go skiing or snowboarding, cross-country or snowmobiling or just enjoy the magnificent winter scenery from a cozy cabin in the many available resorts. Summertime with its wonderful state parks offers opportunities for canoeing, biking and hiking and of course admiring the beautiful nature sceneries of rugged coastlines and forested mountains.

And for all gourmets and seafood lovers Maine offers award winning cuisine. Enjoy famous Maine lobsters and delicious clams!

Originally created as Lafayette National Park in 1919, the first National Park East of the Mississippi, it was renamed Acadia in 1929.

Alfond Arena - University of Maine - Orono


Alfond Arena is a 5,712-seat multi-purpose arena in Orono, Maine in the US. The arena opened in 1977. It is home to the University of Maine Black Bears ice hockey and basketball teams. It is recognizable for its distinctive multi-angular roof design, which was also used in the Pavilion at Villanova University and the Brown University Smith Swim Center. It was expanded from its original capacity of 3,800 in 1992 in order to accommodate more spectators and bring the basketball team back from its temporary home at the Bangor Auditorium.
